A HUNT could soon be on for Burnley’s answer to Lee Westwood as part of ambitious plans to overhaul Towneley’s golfing greens.Plans are being drawn up for a golf academy by town hall bosses which should improve the fortunes of golf club history the nine-hole course.The fifth and seventh greens on the course have often become waterlogged in recent years, prompting complaints from golfers. Extra income from the venture, especially during the winter months, would then be ploughed back into the facility.Mr Goff added: “The development of the proposed The Draw For Match Play golf academy on the nine-hole course will provide opportunities to increase income and opportunities to encourage more young people to take up the sport, with consequent health benefits and the creation of a new generation of golfers.”
